Fixture
- Customer: Robot Manufacturer
- What Does it do: Holds
clips for refrigerator door handle in place to be welded by a
robot.
- How is it used: Used in a production environment
in a robot welding cel.l
- Why was D & E picked
to make it: It was
an experimental fixture that needed to be engineered
and built
at the same time.
- How did D & E solve the
customer's problem: We
were able to supply a functional fixture that saved several thousand
dollars in up front engineering costs.
- What was special about it: It was a unique locating
device with special clamping that allowed
for multiple part loading
instead of one part loading.
- How long did it take D & E: 3-4 weeks
eliminating
the 6-8 week engineering time.
Carpet Stretcher/Clamps
- Customer: Local manufacturer of
auto interior carpet
- What does it do: Holds and stretches
sheets of un molded carpet and delivers it to the mold.
- How is it used: It's used in a
combination with carousel molding machines.
- Why was D & E picked
to make it: D & E
had
the expertise to redesign the existing clamps and also had
the experience from designing similar products.

D & E
was able to supply the frame and clamp system much faster and less
expensive than the Japanese manufacturer.

Absorption Dyno
- Customer: Electric Motor/ Generator Engineer
- What does it do: Simulates Power
- How is it used: Measures torque over a variety of different electric motor's horsepower providing data for software developement.
- Why was D & E picked
to make it: The customer knows D&E has the experience to assist with the design and engineering as it was built.
- How did we solve the customer's problem: Avoided lengthy and expensive engineering fees resulting in faster delivery to the university.
- What was special about it: It will aid university students in developing software for improving energy efficiency on Naval Ships.
- How long did it take us: 6 weeks.
Lance Crane
- Description: Rebuild
- Customer: Fabricating Company
- What does it do: It transfers parts vertically.
- How is it used: It transfers pipe from ground
level to the third floor in an industrial steel environment.
- Why was D & E picked
to rebuild it: D & E
built
a new one prior, so we were familiar with the parts and
assembly.
